Brandcenter announces BCX: new executive education division

March 23, 2021 - Sarah Murphy

Today, the Brandcenter at Virginia Commonwealth University launches BCX: an all-new executive education division. BCX has opened enrollment for a rich collection of online programs designed specifically for creators and innovators, with custom formats available for corporate development.

"The BCX virtual programs give us the opportunity to further our reach and support those interested in—or already working within—the branding, advertising and marketing industries wherever they are located," says Vann Graves, Brandcenter executive director. “The pandemic brought about a surge in demand for courses that address the new challenges facing our industry and teach the skills necessary to meet them. We’re happy to provide that with BCX.”

Individual programs are available for participants who are interested in professional development at any stage of their career. These programs are designed to sharpen leadership skills, teach new software or aid in a career pivot. The inaugural BCX programs, which will begin in Summer 2021 and range from 2-6 weeks in length, will cover several topics, including:

  • A strategic and cultural leadership series
  • Using design as a catalyst for change
  • Software workshops for Adobe After Effects and Adobe Dimension
  • Equity, diversity and inclusion

Through BCX custom programming, companies can work with the Program Director to design custom employee, management and/or leadership development programs unique to their team. BCX offers companies an individualized process tailored to the company's specific needs and executive education goals. BCX is currently working with Foundry, Meredith Corporation’s custom content studio in New York, on programming that focuses on diversity, equity and inclusion for more than 80 of their employees.

“The right content inspires action and change, so we called in BCX experts to help our team better understand their role in creating an inclusive environment and overcoming bias,” said Will Roth, VP, Head of Content & Strategy at Foundry. “Now a third of the way through our BCX course, we have developed new, impactful tools to inspire conversations that facilitate a better understanding of each other and of our audiences so that we can unlock a true culture of innovation.”

Due to the ongoing pandemic—about which there are still many unknowns—BCX programs are held virtually, with a mix of both synchronous and asynchronous learning. Instructors are highly skilled professionals in their respective fields. New individual programs will continually be added, including brand new topics and additional sections of current offerings.
