Introducing BCX: the Brandcenter’s all-new executive education division designed for working professionals

July 22, 2021 - Sarah Murphy

Earlier this year, the Brandcenter at VCU launched a new executive education division called BCX. The division offers short-form programs for working professionals who are looking for continuing education opportunities while maintaining their full-time job.

BCX also gives companies the opportunity to design customized programs to address the specific needs of their team. Through a BCX custom program, companies work with the program coordinator to create custom employee, management, and/or leadership development programs unique to them.

BCX programs cover a variety of topics for those at any stage of their career, including software workshops (Adobe After Effects, Adobe Dimension, and Cinema4D), leadership training, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) development, and design thinking programs. Programs are designed to sharpen leadership skills, teach new software, expand networks, or aid in a career pivot. BCX instructors consist of current faculty members, alumni, or other industry leaders.

This summer, BCX held a two-week software workshop on Adobe After Effects. Participants were able to quickly apply their new skills into their work:

"I really want to thank you for inspiring confidence in the program and the approachable way the tutorial videos were produced. I especially loved the topics and how they applied to real-world work... I'm currently animating something for work, and it's the first time I've ever done this and I kinda [sic] can't believe I'm doing it."
- Logan B.

BCX also designed a three-part series on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for a custom content studio in New York City and over 80 of their employees. The program seemed to have a meaningful impact, described by one of the participants:

“I really valued the thoughtfulness of the [BCX] instructors as they guided us to have honest and open conversations amongst our team. Hearing my teammates' positive feedback also encouraged me to feel comfortable about continuing these conversations going forward.”
-Allison T.
