Virginia Entrepreneurial Challenge: This competition is designed for high school juniors and seniors who dream of one day owning their own business.

Tommy Vines Human Resources Lecture Series: This lecture series welcomes leading experts on human resources topics to Richmond to broaden perspectives and stimulate conversation among VCU students and faculty as well as Richmond’s business leaders.

Student Department Awards

Student of the Year: The Student of the Year Award is presented to a senior or graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in scholarship and leadership.

Distinguished Service Award: The Distinguished Service Award is presented to a student who has provided distinguished service to the department, university and community.

Student of the Year: Rika Nabee

My name is Rika Nabee. I am a recent graduate majoring in International Management with a
3.9 GPA and have been recognized as a Dean's List Honoree for the past four semesters. I
completed an internship with Amazon last summer and will begin my career in one of
Amazon's fulfillment centers in July '22. I enjoy spending time with my husband and four kids in
my spare time. Finishing a bachelor's degree was one of my lifelong dreams. I am glad that I
chose VCU and cherished all the knowledge, friends, and connections that I have made along
the way.

Distinguished Service Award: Ava Furbee

Student of the Year: Victoria Brown

The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship honors Victoria Brown with its Student of the Year award.  Victoria is majoring in the Entrepreneurship concentration, has a 4.0 GPA, and has been recognized as a Dean’s List honoree for the past 4 semesters.  She was described as a “fantastic student” by one nominating professor.  Victoria is currently interning with Dominion Energy as a Business Analyst in the Customer Payment Services department and following graduation will continue with Dominion in a full-time position.  She also has plans for managing a beauty and barber salon that has been in her family for more than 50 years.


Distinguished Service Award: Chandni Patel

Chandni Patel is majoring in Human Resource Management and minoring in psychology.  She is currently the President of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) student chapter at VCU student and served as treasurer in 2019-2020.  In this role she has helped coordinate representation at Boss Day, scheduled events and industry speakers, worked with Richmond SHRM and coordinated and participated with student SHRM members in the HR Virginia Student Competition in 2020 hosted by VASHRM.  She is currently working as a human resources intern at the Virginia Credit Union and plans to search for full time HR employment after graduation.

Student of the Year: Connor H. Parsons

An Eagle Scout since 2015 and an active member of the School of Business Undergraduate Programs Committee, Connor has a strong track record of service and is always willing to lend a helping hand both inside and outside the classroom. Connor has also consistently demonstrated a uniquely creative, entrepreneurial mindset. Prior to transferring to VCU, he played an integral role in developing multiple award-winning business plans, including one for a bar inventory management service which took first place in James Madison University’s Jackson-Rainey business plan competition. Furthermore, he has leveraged his extracurricular interests in music to establish a company specializing in concert promotion, which he hopes to focus on developing later this year. After graduation, Connor is planning to dual-enroll in VCU’s Master of Information Systems and Master of Product Innovation programs before embarking on a career in project management or freelance IT consulting.

Distinguished Service Award: Bryce M. Catlett 

Bryce juggles being a track and field and cross country athlete with his studies while maintaining a very strong GPA. He has been on the Dean's List and Athletic Director's Honor Roll each of his semesters at VCU and he was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the Business Honor Society. He has received a summer internship with ALDI as a District Manager Intern, which led him to a full-time position upon graduation. He is captain of the Cross Country & Track team and is the President of SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee).
